Hey its mostly about balancing.. make sure you are plenty warm too with good thick boots and socks.. and make sure you have goggles or youll be like blinded going down the hill.. just remember when you turn when you like slice into the ground it slows you down.. and if you feel like your going to fast or going to crash or something just shift your weight and try to turn or just fall backwards to stop yourself… Some people are naturals at it and others it takes a while to learn.. try regular stance and goofy see which ones better for you.. youll catch on =) good luck

Take a lesson. As far as I know, it’s not hard to learn, but you do need to practice.

uh if you’ve never snowboarded before, be prepared for PAIN.

You need to take lessons. Period. The problem with beginning snowboarding it that is takes coordination that you have never used before. You need to be shown properly how to stand how to turn and so forth. The lessons can be given by someone who knows how to snowboard..but I made the mistake of trying to teach myself!!! Bad idea :(

Typically, you will fall backwards on your head on flat ground.
The other option is, you will fall extremely hard directly onto your wrists!!!

The thing you don’t realize is the fact that snowboarding clothes have all kinds of protection built into them. The gloves have stiff bars so you don’t break your wrists…the elbows and knees are extremely well padded. People wear helmets for a reason!!!

if you have a chance to go to walmart and pick up a pair of very SOFT, inexpensive VOLLEYBALL pads, believe me you will be thanking me. If you have a set of wrist guards that you might have used for rollerblading, wear them. Believe me, any kind of thing that you can bring that will give you extra padding will be helpful.

Now, here is the mechanics of snowboarding:

You are either on the forward edge, or the back edge.
while you are doing this, your weight is either on the balls of your feet, ot the heels of your feet. Now to turn, you kind of PULL yourself around with your upper body strength.

To Stop. you pull back on your heels.

Now tonight, just standing in you room kind of envision you are standing on a snowboard. Now, lean forward on the balls of your feet. With your arms outstretched, kind of pull yourself around so that you are now rocking backwards on to your heels. Now Pull yourself around using your upper body strenghth in a twisting motion so you are back on the balls of your feet again!! Its not so easy is it.??? :)

    SNOWBOARDING IS AWSOME!!

There is really no way you can stop yourself from looking stupid when your learning its just a part of it
    Unless your a natural
    have really good balance/coordination
or do other boardsports like skateboarding
Snowboarding really isnt as painful or horrible sounding as yagura made it out to be just to let you know
